9. Cut a Decorative V-Groove

In episode 9 of his Advanced Keencut Picture Framing Series, award-winning picture framer David Wilkie GCF shows you how to cut a v-groove into the surface of the board; this gives you a 3D line within the mount that picks up the light. For this cut, David uses the 012 single-edged blade in the Keencut Ultimat Futura cutting head; this blade is easier to use for the v-groove than the double-edged blade.  David explains the marking out and cutting process for the full mount, including setting the v-stop on the machine.

This video is part of the Keencut Picture Framing Masterclass presented by picture framer David Wilkie GCF. In the Advanced Keencut Picture Framing Series, David shows you how to tackle more sophisticated framing techniques. This series of videos is ideal for the experienced framer wishing to enhance their skills or those who have already completed David’s initial Keencut Picture Framing Series.
