How to use the Evolution E2 spare parts kit

To do this you will need the Evolution E2 spare parts kit >

Tools required:

  • Allen (hex) key 2mm
  • A long thin screwdriver, unfolded paperclip or similar long thin implement

What to do

  • Remove both blade holders.
  • Remove the sliding bearing blocks by first taking out all eight fixing /adjustment screws from the user side of the slideblock using the 2mm Allen (hex) key.
  • Push out the near bearing block from one end using a long thin screwdriver, unfolded paperclip or similar long thin implement.
  • Move the cutting head away and lift it from the cutter bar.
  • Remove the four fixing screws for the rear bearing block and replace with new, take care not to overtighten the screws.
  • Replace the cutting head, slide in the two near bearing blocks and fix with screws.
  • To adjust the sliding bearings:
  • Tighten the four adjusting screws (outer screws in each set of four) to lock slideblock in place and bed screws into blocks.
  • Turn each adjustment screw anti/counter-clockwise two full turns check the cutting head slides easily, if not undo each screw another full turn until it does
  • Place the long end of the 2mm Allen (hex) key into any one of the adjustment screws and very gradually tighten it with your left hand whilst moving the cutting head up and down the cutter bar with the other.
  • Once you feel the sliding motion start to get stiff undo the screw the smallest amount possible so the cutting head only just slides easily.
  • Repeat this on the other screw, further finer adjustment on each screw will be needed to achieve an easy sliding movement with zero side play.

Refit blade holders using new knobs and replace bumpers if required.
