Squeaky SteelTrak when using clamp handle

This guide is for use when your SteelTrak has started making noises when using the clamp.

1. Remove the cover strips

The two black plastic cover strips are fixed on the right hand side of the slideway, they are shown in red in the picture. Use a small screwdriver or steel ruler to prise them off.

2. Lubricate pivot housing

Use a couple of drops of 3 in 1 ordingary shpo oil to lubricate the pivot housing at the top and bottom of the push rod. Shown in the image with the oil symbol.

3. Check nuts are tight

Check both the nuts on the adjustment bar are tightened and locked against the adjoining parts as shown below in the red circles.

4. Further action if still noisy

If still squeaking remove the clamp handle housing (use this guide if unsure of this procedure) and check for debris or oil on the dark grey ‘brake pad’. The brake pad can be found behind the plate as shown by the red arrows in the image. Clean if necessary with cleaning solvent on a cloth.

Finally, re-assemble machine and replace black plastic cover strips.
