Cutting thick soft material on a cutter bar

Before you start

Before starting any work, check that you have the following equipment:

  • Thick soft material
  • Medium duty or Graphik blades fitted

1. The correct method - Cutting while using the material stop

  • Make sure the material being cut is up against the material stop to support the end (A).
  • Cut using the blades full depth with a slow, controlled motion (B).

2. Cutting without using the material stop is incorrect

  • Not using the material stop (C) causes the material to tear away as there is no support at the end and does not cut straight (D).

3. Results of cutting with and without the material stop

  • Without using material stop giving end support (E), the cut is torn and not straight.
  • With using material stop (F) that gives support, the cut is straight and without tears.
